Which Team Are Montanans Cheering For In The Super Bowl?
The biggest football game of the year is days away and while Montana doesn't have its own NFL team, we are football crazy here in The Treasure State.
Super Bowl 58 will be played in Las Vegas and it's a rematch of the Super Bowl from four years ago, as the Kansas City Chiefs will be facing the San Fransico 49ers. The Chiefs are returning to their 4th Super Bowl in 5 years while the 49ers are making their second appearance in that period.
For the record, Kansas City is more than a thousand miles from Montana while San Fransico is almost the same distance.
The two cities couldn't be more different. One is located in the middle of the country, surrounded by farmland and bar-b-q, while the other is on the California coast and is famous for cable cars.
So which of the two teams are Montanans cheering for?
We asked Montanans who they were cheering for, the Chiefs, the 49ers, the commercials, or Taylor Swift. Surprisingly, it was pretty close between all 4 options.
Of course, Swift is dating Travis Kelce, the tight end of the Chiefs, and has been seen at many of the Chiefs games this season. The "Taylor Factor" has been big business for the NFL this season with an additional 350 million dollars in merchandise sold added by her presence at games. Plus, the number of women watching NFL games has been higher this year than any other since they started tracking such statistics back in 2000.
By the number of responses, it seems that the 49ers have a slight edge over the Chiefs as far as Montanans go, which makes sense considering the number of Californians that have moved to Montana over the last few years.
After the two teams, it looks like the commercials are next up with Taylor coming in 4th place. Whatever the outcome, here's hoping for a great game and since I was born in Missouri, Go Chiefs!
