You may not think of amazing Italian food when you think of Montana, but you'd be surprised to find how many authentic, locally-owned gems are scattered across the state.

Italian food is the ultimate comfort food. If you eat too much of it, you'll most likely need to lie down for a nap afterward. Personally, I absolutely love it. You've most likely heard of chain Italian restaurants like Olive Garden or Old Chicago, but for this article, I want to highlight the best locally-owned spots in Montana.

If you happen to be in the Bozeman area, you’ve got some great choices. Blackbird is always a great option, and I’ve been hearing incredible things about the handmade pasta at Tutte Benni.

If you’re heading toward Livingston, you have to stop at Campione. It's definitely worth the drive.

In Billings, Bistro Enzo and Caio Mambo are excellent choices.

Missoula has a Caio Mambo location as well. There's also Florabella and Romeo's Italian Kitchen. If you're in the mood for pizza, do yourself a favor and stop by Biga Pizza.

Depending on where you are, you’re never too far from a quality meal, but if you’re looking for the absolute best in Montana, you’ll need to head to Helena. Lucca’s Italian has been the gold standard for years, frequently topping lists from Taste of Home to Business Insider. Just looking at their food is guaranteed to make your mouth water.

If you’re in Red Lodge, don't miss Piccola Cucina at Ox Pasture. It’s one of the most authentic spots in the state, and if you’re lucky, you might even witness the staff and customers spontaneously singing and dancing.

These places get busy, so making a reservation is highly recommended!
