J. Cole Gets Analyzed by Missy Elliott in New ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ Video
J. Cole has unveiled his brand-new video for ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ in which he states his case to rapper Missy Elliott, who acts as his therapist.
The clip was directed by Colin Tilley, and features quick shots of dying piranhas, blinking cameras and keyboard buttons that spell out phrases from the song. Later, we see Cole at a confessional booth, and then in front of Elliott, explaining his issues.
Although Elliott takes pages of notes, the ultimate words of advice she offers are, unsurprisingly, “nobody’s perfect.” Elliott offers her vocals on the chorus of the track, rocking an edgy look, complete with a studded leather jacket.
For Cole, collaborating with Elliott was a dream come true. “Man, just to have Missy on that set and to see her singing the song that I wrote … It’s Missy, I don’t think people really understand,” he told MTV. “That’s my era, and how I look at her and how creative she is and her and Timbaland and the things that they did — that was a beautiful moment right there.”
‘Nobody’s Perfect’ appears on Cole’s debut album, ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story,’ which was released in September 2011. In addition his latest single, the LP features ‘Can’t Get Enough’ and the all-too-infectious hit ‘Work Out.’
