The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention publishes data about drug overdose mortality rates in every state, annually. Here is a look at overdose-related death rates for 2016, the most recent year available. According to CBS News, Montana has a rate of 11.7 deaths per 100,000 residents.

According to a recent report, Montana ranks in the top 10 for drug overdoses in America. Montana ranks 7th behind California, Kansas, North Dakota, Iowa, Texas, South Dakota, and Nebraska. North Dakota and Iowa and tied for 4th.
