Montana State Bobcats’ Wide Receivers Coach Leaves for NFL
The hits keep coming for the Montana State Bobcats football team. First, head coach Jeff Choate announced he was leaving the program for a position at the University of Texas.
Shortly after, longtime defensive coordinator, Kane Ioane announced his departure from the coaching staff to accept the co-defensive coordinator position at Boise State University. Ioane first joined the coaching staff at MSU in 2004. He also played safety of the Bobcats' defense from 2000-2003.
Now, Erik Frazier, wide receivers coach for the Bobcats since 2019 has announced that he's leaving the program at MSU and heading for the NFL. Frazier was also the pass-game coordinator for the Bobcats' offense. He came to Montana State from Western Illinois.
According to montanasports.com, Frazier has accepted a position with the Tennessee Titans as an offensive assistant under new offensive coordinator, Todd Downing.
The search to fill the recent vacancies on the Montana Stae Football is underway. However, little information has been released about potential candidates to fill the positions. Kane Ioane was reportedly an option to replace head coach, Jeff Choate, but plans changed when Ioane announced his departure from the program.
Fortunately, the Bobcats recently opted out of the Big Sky Conference spring football season. The University of Montana, Portland Sate, and Sacramento state also opted out of the spring season. The good news is that by not playing in the spring, there's more time to rebuild the coaching staff at Montana State before the fall football season arrives.
The recent departures are disheartening, especially after the success the football program at Montana State has seen in recent years under the leadership of head coach, Jeff Choate.
