Montana State’s Tricia Binford named #BIGSKYWBB Coach of the Year
According to a press release from the Big Sky Conference, Montana State head coach Tricia Binford and Idaho State head coach Seton Sobolewski have both been named the Big Sky Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Head Coach Tricia Binford has led the Montana State Bobcats team back to the top of the standings after losing key players a season ago. Binford has been a head coach for the Montana State Women's Basketball for 16 years. This year marks the second year in a row that Binford has been named the coach of the year following a stellar campaign in 2019-20. The Bobcats won as many as eight consecutive games this year, as they capped the regular season with a 16-6 overall record and a 13-3 conference mark. The women's team will play in the Big Sky Conference in Boise, Idaho this week. The Bobcats will play their first tournament game at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, due to receiving a first-round bye.
This season Binford coached two All-Big Sky selections, including first-team selection and Defensive Player of the Year, Darian White. Senior Tori Martell also received all-conference honors this season under Binford.
Idaho State head coach Seton Sobolewski led the Bengals to their best finish since the 2011-2012 season. Under Sobolewski, ISU registered non-conference wins against Utah State and Kansas State to aid in a 19-3 overall record. The Bengals boasted a 15-2 record in Big Sky play that resulted in the Bengals winning the Big Sky regular-season title.
Congratulations to Montana State head coach Tricia Binford on being named the Big Sky Conference Women's Basketball Coach of the Year!
