Two Special Montana Buildings Among The Most Ugly in America
Montana is known for its breathtaking landscapes, from towering mountain peaks to crystal-clear rivers, but not every view in Big Sky Country is a feast for the eyes.
Two buildings in the state have recently earned a spot on a national list of America’s ugliest structures, proving that even in a place celebrated for natural beauty, architectural missteps can stand out. Sometimes in shocking ways.
A list of the 100 Ugliest Public Buildings in the U.S. was released by the Robert Dekanski Team at Re/Max 1st Advantage. They surveyed over 3,000 people to find the most unattractive public buildings in the country.
Two Special Montana Buildings Among The Most Ugly in America
The first building in Montana that landed on the list at #54 was the Flathead County Justice Center in Kalispell. While the building seems more modern, it's fairly basic and doesn't match the beauty that surrounds it in the Flathead Valley. It just looks like a plain ordinary Federal building. Nothing special.

Further down the list at #96, the Great Falls Civic Center was named one of America's ugliest public buildings. The Civic Center was built in 1939 and serves as a central hub for the community, hosting a diverse array of events and activities.
If you compare the buildings in Montana that were included on the list, the building in Great Falls appears more pleasing to the eye than the building in Kalispell.
Montana may be famous for its big skies and rugged beauty, but these two buildings prove that not everything here is worth admiring. They don’t inspire awe. Instead, they inspire eye-rolls, groans, and plenty of “what were they thinking?” moments.
