National Recall Now Includes Nearly 12 Million Pounds of Chicken Strips

Tyson Foods, Inc., is recalling nearly 12 million pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken strip products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically pieces of metal.

This is an expansion of a recall announced back in March, which included approximately 69,000 pounds of frozen chicken strips.

According to the USDA, the products were produced on various dates from Oct. 1, 2018 through March 8, 2019 and have “Use By Dates” of Oct. 1, 2019 through March 7, 2020.

The products in question carry the establishment number “P-7221” on the back of the packaging.

These items were apparently shipped to stores nationwide.

The problem was discovered when the food inspection service received multiple complaints of extraneous material in some Tyson chicken strips. Government health officials are now aware of three incidents alleging oral injury.

The USDA Food Safety Inspection Service had this to say:

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
