Actor Sam Elliott has been a hot commodity in Hollywood lately. And that's saying something for a guy that's been around forever! We know him from countless movies, televisions shows, commercials, and voiceovers. There doesn't seem to be a shortage of work for Elliott as he's recently been starring alongside Tim McGraw in the Yellowstone spinoff 1883 as well as putting those dramatic acting chops to the test while delivering in the role of MacGruber's dad in the Peacock series that saw Will Forte return as the main character. But Sam Elliott is making headlines for reasons other than his acting this week.

As Sam Elliott was being interviewed during a podcast appearance, Marc Maron mentioned the movie The Power of the Dog and Elliott let his feelings about it be known! We've actually been following the film for a while since it's set in Montana. I'll hit pause real quick if you need to be brought up to speed on The Power of the Dog.

Alright, back to the Sam Elliott part of things. It seems Sam isn't a fan of The Power of the Dog as when he was asked about it he replied with, "You want to talk about that piece of s--t?" He then went on to share his thoughts about the film with a bunch of profanity that I can't repeat here (but you can read here.) He really went off. It seems that much of his dislike for the film has to do with what he referred to as "allusions of homosexuality."

From that same outburst, Elliott gave his thought about director Jane Campion shooting the film in New Zealand when it's set in Montana. He said it "f---ing rubbed me the wrong way."

“What the f--- does this woman from down there know about the American West? Why the f--- did she shoot this movie in New Zealand and call it Montana? And say this is the way it was?.”

As you might guess, social media and the internet have had plenty to say about Sam Elliott and his thoughts on The Power of the Dog. We'll have to see how the fallout might affect him moving forward. We'll also be watching the Oscars at the end of the month to see if the film set in Montana will be the big winner of the night.
