The search for a missing Bismark, North Dakota man entered its fifth day Wednesday.

Dr. Patrick J. Fitzpatrick, 74, was last seen in Bozeman on Friday, July 3. His vehicle was discovered abandoned south of Willow Creek on Saturday July 4, according to a news release from the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office.

Up to five dog teams, seven ATV crews, ground searchers, helicopters and airplanes using high tech cameras have been unable to locate Fitzpatrick, Sheriff Brian Gootkin said in the release. Also, the Madison County Sheriff and Search and Rescue joined the effort, searching the area around the town of Harrision and the reservoir after a tip came in regarding the area.

Sheriff’s detectives continue to piece together Fitzpatrick’s movements and attempt to develop leads. The active search south of Willow Creek has been put on hold until additional clues can be obtained.

“Rescuers searched to such a degree we are confident he is not in that area. We use our experience, lost person behavioral data and topography to predict probable and possible search areas,” Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Commander Lt. Jason Jarrett said in the release.

Fitzpatrick is described as 6’0″ tall about 250 pounds with grey eyes, white hair. He wears glasses. He was driving a green Ford Explorer with a white utility-type trailer.

Anyone with information regarding Fitzpatrick is encouraged to call either the Gallatin County Sheriff at (406) 582-2100 or Madison County Sheriff at (406) 843-5301.
