If I could work remotely, I would live in this historic Montana town.

There are hundreds of amazing things to do in various towns across America. The majestic and quaint community of Anaconda, Montana, surrounded by the Pintler Mountains, is no different. Now, for certain, you won't find a suburban atmosphere when it comes to shopping or the electricity of a city nightclub, but instead, a place that offers a sense of belonging sprinkled with a hip and upcoming vibe and a tinge of traditional and historical staples to balance out an authentic experience. In the late 1800s, Copper King Marcus Daly founded the town of Anaconda while financing the construction of a smelter for silver deposits and, eventually, for copper mining. Although the smelter officially shut down in 1980, native Anacondans and visitors alike still recognize the area as a historic place that thrived during its days as a smelting town and a place that relentlessly works to stay alive.

Nope, it's not Butte. But we discovered a pile of historical facts that all originated in this other important Montana town. When the town in question was to be platted, it's founder wanted to call it "Copperopolis".

It's not every day that you see the words "affordable" and "Montana" in the same sentence.

So maybe you don't have the time or the funds to jump on a plane and head over to Germany in the next couple of weeks, that's ok, you can still celebrate Oktoberfest right here in Montana

The history of Montana is a rich one. Both figuratively and literally. With some colorful characters helping shape the history of the state, one of the most influential was Marcus Daly.

There are a lot of beautiful small towns in Montana, but not many with a history like Anaconda, Montana.
