Search and Rescue crews from Gallatin County Sheriff Search and Rescue in West Yellowstone and Hebgen Basin Rural Fire District responded to the call and assisted in the rescue.

A 43 year old Bozeman man suffered a broken leg after hitting a tree on his snowmobile outside of West Yellowstone on Saturday. He was choppered to Idaho.

It's so easy to become separated from your crew, and thankfully this snowmobiler was located by Gallatin County Sheriffs by his phone GPS.

In January alone, there have already been 11 avalanche fatalities across the West.

Good ending to this story but a reminder to ALWAYS have more than a phone and some water with you. Cell phones don't always work in the boonies. Thanks to Gallatin County Search & Rescue.

Check out this video that someone by the name of Mike Salmon just posted. In a recent snowmobiling trip near Afton, Wyoming, one of the riders gets caught in an avalanche slide as he attempts a backcountry hill climb. Luckily, his group is able to spot his sled in the aftermath and rush to the scene. He was completely buried up to his head and appears to be alright. Very lucky!

The X Games officials announced  that there will no longer be Snowmobile best trick or Moto X best trick events at any future X Games.
