Looks like you're all pretty nuts for Temple Run and Temple Run 2, because Imangi Studios' hit franchise just hit one billion downloads. That's a whole lot of running from Evil Demon Monkeys.

Temple Run fans, rejoice! The hit infinite runner franchise that started in 2011 has become the number one most downloaded series in all of mobile gaming history. Imangi released a few other milestones worthy of mentioning, if only for the fact that they're all pretty mindblowing:

  • Players have collectively spent over 216,017 years playing Temple Run. Yet we still haven't invented hoverboards.
  • Over 32 billion games of Temple Run and Temple Run 2 have been played.
  • Temple Run players have run a total of 50 trillion meters.
"Having Temple Run reach the one billion downloads mark is a milestone we couldn’t have imagined when we first started out," Keith Shepherd, co-found of Imangi Studios, said. "We’re incredibly grateful to all the Temple Run players and our wonderful team. We look forward to continuing to grow the Temple Run franchise, as well as creating additional innovative games.”
The success of Temple Run and the impact it's had on the mobile gaming landscape isn't too hard to see. Just casually browse the iOS App Store and you'll find that it has spawned hundreds of games that try to capitalize on the endless running gameplay that it made popular.
