As mentioned above, there are a lot of cowboys and skiers in Montana. When those two cultures collide, you get a sport like skijoring. Skijoring is basically skiing behind a horse that's pulling you while running at full speed. According to a description on Wikipedia, the skier can also be pulled by dogs or a vehicle. However, horses are the primary choice for skiers in Montana.

Skijoring is extremely popular in Europe, according to an article in Horse Illustrated Magazine back in 2008.

In recent years, skijoring has gained quite a bit of popularity in Montana and throughout many western states. Many states have skijoring competitions during the winter months.

A video of a Montana skijoring event posted on TikTok in early February has been viewed over 8 million times. It shows a skier flying through an obstacle course while being pulled behind a horse. The skier even jumps over an open flame, somewhat of a modern-day homage to Jack & Jill.
