Montana Coffee Traders recently accused Ghost Town Coffee Roaster of copyright infringement, and both companies are telling a different story. The controversy began when Montana Coffee Traders allegedly asked Ghost Town to stop using the name "Glacier" on the packaging for one of their signature coffee blends, and a cease and desist order was issued.

According to a statement from Montana Coffee Traders, the company never received a response to the request from Ghost Town Coffee Roasters and chose to file a lawsuit. Ghost Town lost the lawsuit and was ordered to pay over $20,000 to Montana Coffee Traders. A GoFundMe page was created to help pay for legal fees and expenses, and Ghost Town shared its side of the story.

Following the response from Montana Coffee Traders, Ghost Town released an additional statement regarding the lawsuit.

Statement from Ghost Town Coffee Roasters

We hope that both companies can work out a solution to the issue. There are two sides to every story and the reputations of both companies could be damaged as a result of the lawsuit. As a person who enjoys a good cup of coffee, I have personally purchased both brands in the past, and will always buy local when I have the option.
