Strong winds have made it tough on firefighters who are battling the Eustis Fire north of Three Forks. The fire has consumed over 9,500 acres since it began on Friday morning. As of Monday morning at 5:45 am, the fire is 45% contained. The fire is burning mostly in open range, wheat fields, and scrubby pine and juniper.

Access to fight the fire is intermittently limited by steep, rocky terrain especially on the north, east, and south sides of the fire. Active fire growth occurred late Saturday afternoon and into the night, primarily uphill and wind-driven runs. Line construction efforts have been limited by extremely rocky terrain and lack of anchor points.
