Walmart to Require Masks For Shoppers
Beginning Monday, July 20th, Walmart Inc. will require face masks in all U.S. stores. This means masks will be mandatory for customers at our local Bozeman Walmart. The company will be joining a small number of national retailers that already require masks, including Costco, Best Buy, and Apple Store.
Walmart stated they will position "health ambassadors" at store entrances to remind customers without face coverings of the new policy, according to a Wednesday press release. Over the next few days, they will be working to implement the new policy by training employees, posting signs, and informing shoppers. Walmart employees have already been required to wear face masks.
Currently, 3,250 of their 5,000 locations already comply with public health mandates in their local markets. Walmart stated the mandate will bring consistency across their stores and Sam's Clubs.
Dacona Smith, COO of Walmart, and Lance de la Rosa, COO of Sam’s Club, stated
We know some people have differing opinions on this topic. We also recognize the role we can play to help protect the health and well-being of the communities we serve by following the evolving guidance of health officials like the CDC.
