Winter Weather Advisory for Gallatin County – UPDATE
After getting a few inches of fresh snow overnight at the ski areas, more snow is in the forecast today but mostly for high mountain elevations.
Here in town we may see mild accumulation and slick roads so take caution out there!
According to the National Weather Service:
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 5500 FEET...
LOCATIONS... BATTLE RIDGE PASS... BOZEMAN PASS... TARGHEE PASS... WEST YELLOWSTONE... RAYNOLDS PASS... BIG HOLE PASS... CHIEF JOSEPH PASS... MONIDA PASS.
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS... AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 4 INCHES OVER HIGHER ROADWAYS AND MOUNTAIN PASSES... WITH ANOTHER 4 TO 8 INCHES IN THE MOUNTAINS ABOVE PASS LEVEL.
TIMING... PERIODS OF HEAVIER SNOW WILL FALL AT TIMES THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF TODAY.
IMPACTS... HIGHER ELEVATION ROADWAYS AND MOUNTAIN PASSES WILL LIKELY BE SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY FOR MUCH OF THIS PERIOD. AREAS OF BLOWING AND FALLING SNOW WILL ALSO REDUCE VISIBILITY BELOW ONE MILE AT TIMES.
HAZARD ELEVATION... FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 5500 FEET.
