The Townsquare Media studios in downtown Bozeman are buzzing with excitement this week. That’s because it’s time for the St. Jude Country Cares Radiothon.

Each year, our sister station, XL Country, joins other country radio stations to help promote and raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

For two days, Thursday and Friday, March 5 and 6, XL Country 100.7 will be raising funds and awareness for St. Jude. It’s a great cause. St. Jude ensures that no family ever has to worry about money when a child is facing cancer. What insurance doesn’t cover, St. Jude does. St. Jude also shares its cancer research with hospitals and doctors all over the world.

To get involved, listen to XL Country 100.7 FM this Thursday and Friday. The radiothon runs each day from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can even listen online.

Montana-born country music singer/songwriter Stephanie Quayle will help kick off the events with a concert tonight at Rockin’ TJ Ranch. The week wraps up Friday at the Filling Station on North Rouse Avenue where a group of guys from Montana Stucco & Rock will have their heads shaved and help collect money for the kids at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Feel free to drop by to donate your locks or just support those who do.

You can help too by becoming a Partner in Hope for only $20 a month.

Some St. Jude Facts:

  • 81 cents of every dollar received has supported the research & treatment at St. Jude.
  • In 1962, the survival rate for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the most common form of childhood cancer, was 4 percent. Today, the survival rate for this once deadly disease is 94 percent, thanks to the research and protocols developed at St. Jude.
  • Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent when the hospital opened in 1962 to more than 80 percent today.

All segments of the country music industry—artists, record labels, managers, songwriters, and radio stations team up once a year to help support this research hospital that truly cares for kids. Stars like Randy Owen, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, and many others lend their name and time to this endeavor.

We also want to give a big "thank you" to the folks at Lewis & Clark Motel in Bozeman for helping us spread the word by displaying this message on their iconic sign.
