Maybe it's just me, but living in Bozeman can be mentally exhausting. Bozeman doesn't feel quite as welcoming as it used to, and everyone is especially on-edge with the arrival of tourist season.

What really saddens me is seeing the number of people that are struggling to survive even though they're working hard to get by. Bozeman is a beautiful place, but living conditions for many here are far from that. I mean, there are people living in RVs in the middle of the winter. Something just isn't right.

You can't turn on the news or log onto social media without being flooded with negativity. It's everywhere you look and can be extremely overwhelming and emotionally draining.

If the stresses of living in Bozeman have got you down, you're not alone. I put together a list of things that help me clear my head when I need a cure for the Bozeman blues. Hopefully, it will help you as well.

5 Ways to Cure the Bozeman Blues

  1. Go For a Drive: You don't have to drive far to get out of Bozeman and clear your head. Just get behind the wheel and drive. If you want to stay close, take a trip up to Hyalite or drive through Bridger Canyon. If you want to make a day out of it, pick a spot on the map and go.
  2. Listen to Your Favorite Music: If you need to relax, pour yourself a drive and listen to your favorite music. I have a record player at home and find that listening to music can help improve my mood. If you're not a music lover, just pour yourself a few more drinks.
  3. Have a Relaxing Soak in Hot Springs: We're fortunate to have a lot of hot springs that aren't far from Bozeman. There's Bozeman Hot Springs, Norris, Chico Hot Springs, and Yellowstone Hot Springs. Hot springs are great if you're looking to relieve some stress or just need to relax.
  4. Adopt a Pet: If you're single and living alone in Bozeman, adopting a pet is something that will help. Adopting a dog was one of the best decisions I've ever made. It's nice to have something to look forward to when you get home from work.
  5. Eat Your Favorite Food: Comfort food is a real thing. Making your favorite dish or going out to dinner at your favorite restaurant can definitely lift your spirits. It may not be the healthiest way to deal with your problems, but cheesecake has never let me down.

Most of all, remember to be kind to those around you! A little kindness goes a long way.
