‘Inside Amy Schumer’ Tackles ‘Friday Night Lights’ and Rape Culture
Amy Schumer had a sparkling enough day with yesterday’s official Season 4 renewal of Inside Amy Schumer, and all before anyone managed to catch the Season 3 premiere. Many a highlight are making the round, but none so spot-on and hysterical as Inside Amy Schumer’s Friday Night Lights parody, “Football Town Nights.”
“Clear eyes, full hearts, don’t rape” is the name of the game in Inside Amy Schumer’s latest classic, bringing back Josh Charles from last year’s stellar Newsroom parody “The Foodroom.” This time around, Charles becomes Coach Thompson to Schumer’s wine-guzzling, wisdom-spouting Tami Taylor approximation.
We won’t spoil all the fun, but suffice to say, the sketch hits the nail on the head toward how deeply askew football culture can push its players’ minset, especially when they’re made to physically dominate their opponents at all costs. After the Inside Amy Schumer Season 3 premiere, we can’t wait to see what comes next.
You can check out “Football Town Nights” above, but what other treasures will we find Inside Amy Schumer this year?
