It's never too early to start looking at the future and speculating on what could happen next season.

The Bobcats had an absolutely banner year in 2021 that led them to the FCS National Championship Game for the first time since 1984. Sadly, the game didn't end how the Bobcats were hoping for, but what about next season?

Montana State Bobcat Football team will be losing a lot of their high-profile seniors for next year's squad. Troy Andersen, Lance McCutcheon, and other huge contributors of the team on both sides of the ball. The Bobcats have big returning pieces such as running back Isiah Infanse and quarterback Tommy Mellott. Plus, there might be a quarterback competition with the incoming Wyoming transfer Sean Chambers

The Bobcats will kick off the 2022 season with the Gold Rush Game under the lights against McNeese State on September 3rd. That will be a huge game to kick off the season. Then the Bobcats have another home game against Morehead State on September 10th. The Bobcats final non-conference game will be an away game against the Pac 12's Oregon State on September 17th, in a unique game being played at Providence Park in Portland. That field host is where the MLS Portland Timbers play.

When the conference schedule starts, the Bobcats will have some pretty tough opponents lined up. There are road games against Eastern Washington, Northern Colorado, Northern Arizona, and Cal Poly. On the other hand, we have some pretty exciting home games against Weber State, UC Davis, Idaho State, and the grand finale in the Brawl of the Wild against the University of Montana.

Either way, 2022 will have high expectations for the Bobcats after reaching the National Championship game this past year. Who knows, they might surprise us again.
