Glacier National Park is home to some of the most breathtaking scenery on earth, and once you experience it for yourself, you'll understand why.

A couple of years ago, my parents visited Montana, and we set out on a truly unforgettable adventure. They had never been to Glacier before, so we planned our visit around two major highlights.

First, we attended the Under the Big Sky Festival in Whitefish, and afterwards, we took a scenic drive along the legendary Going-to-the-Sun Road. Sharing one of my all-time favorite places with them made the experience even more meaningful.

Known as the Crown Jewel of the Continent, Glacier National Park is unlike any other place in America. Its soaring mountain peaks, turquoise lakes, and wild, untouched landscapes feel like something out of a dream.

If you've never driven Going-to-the-Sun Road, you need to add it to your bucket list immediately. The road is only open seasonally, and requires a reservation. Here's when it opens in 2025.

When Does Montana's Most Beautiful Road Open in 2025?

According to Glacier National Park, Going-to-the-Sun Road will open to motorized vehicles for the 2025 summer season on Monday, June 16.

Vehicle reservations are required to enter Going-to-the-Sun Road from the west side of the park for those traveling by vehicle or motorcycle from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. through September 28, 2025.

Information about timed vehicle reservations can be found on the GNP website.
