Could the Bobcats make a run at regionals and surprise everyone and make it to nationals again? We think so.

Montana State Hockey season might be done with home games, but they are neck-deep in the hunt to get to Nationals for the first time in three years. Montana State won the MWCHL Championship against teams like Weber State to help propel them to a final #4 ranking in the ACHA West Hockey rankings.

Even though #4 is a great ranking, this doesn't help them gain an automatic bye into the National Tournament in St. Louis, Missouri. Now the Montana State Bobcats head to a stacked West Regional tournament where they will be facing off against several tough opponents. These teams include one of Montana State's in-state rivals, #3 University of Providence in Great Falls, but schools like Arizona State, UCLA, and even the host team Metro State University-Denver.

Montana State Hockey has a tall task, and tough opponents to make nationals but all they have to do is take it one game at a time. The perk of having a bye in Regionals is that they only have to win two games to qualify for Nationals. Regionals take the two finals teams to the national finals.

So if Montana State can win two games in this tough regional tournament, they will achieve something that only one other Montana State Bobcat hockey team has achieved and make it to Nationals.

We want to wish the Bobcats nothing but the best of luck next week in their games, and we can't wait to stream the games and watch them from home. Their first game will be on Friday, February 24, at 3:30 PM Mountain Standard Time.

Montana State Hockey won't know who they play till Thursday night, but keep your eye on Montana State Hockey's Facebook for all the details.
