Out-of-staters often get a bad rap in Montana, but not all of them are bad people. Some of them are important members of communities throughout the state. However, there are some bad apples.

I understand that writing an article about moving here from another state may illicit some negative feedback, but I feel a need to explain that not all transplants are bad people. I moved to Montana in 2016 for work, but it wasn't my first time living here. I lived in Bozeman for a short time before that after graduating high school.

There is a common fear among Montanans that newcomers are only here to change everything and make Montana more like where they came from. I moved to Montana to make a living and get away from Boise, which has experienced a lot of growth since the days of my childhood. I have never been a fan of the rat race. The Most Important Thing I Learned After Moving to Montana

The most important thing I learned after moving to Montana is to be respectful and treat others how you want to be treated. Growing up in Idaho, I learned to have an appreciation for the outdoors and wildlife. For the most part, I try to keep to myself and not complain about things. I think mutual respect is extremely important. We should not only respect one another, but we should also respect the land that we share with others.

Personally, I don't want to change Montana. I think it's perfect just the way it is. I feel that if more people shared that sentiment, we'd all get along a lot better.
