Special Northern Idaho Eatery Makes ‘The Best In The U.S.’ List
I'm already making plans to visit this restaurant in northern Idaho that has been named one of the '100 Best Places to Eat' in the country. This locally owned eatery is not only ON the list, it's #35 out of 100. That sounds like a great reason for a road trip to me.
This Coeur d'Alene, Idaho restaurant describes itself with the phrase, "Elevated and Approachable Comfort Cuisine." I'm in. Travel and Leisure created this particular '100 Best Places to Eat in the U.S.' list because the Yelp reviews are insanely positive. People love this joint.
izzy's Comfort Kitchen in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho is family owned by Reannan and Jason Keene and just the pictures of their food will make you start the car to head there. I've never seen a more delicious looking bagel in my life. Fried chicken, unique sandwiches, and gorgeous burritos are staples - each item more tasty looking than the last.
I'm a big fan of taking impromptu road trips just for the sake of checking out a fantastic restaurant. We all have different priorities, right? I love great meals - upscale or casual. It seems that the crew at izzy's Comfort Kitchen not only create heavenly food, but they take great care in the presentation. Check izzy's Comfort Kitchen's Facebook page to see what I mean.
- "Fried Chicken is THE BEST! Excellent service, very friendly staff. It has been difficult to get reservations because it is always busy. It is so much worth it, though."
- "One of my wife's favorite spots in Coeur d'Alene. Knowing the owner of this quaint restaurant shares celiac in common with my wife, the menu is crafted with care in the sensitivity of gluten alternatives. You wouldn't know it though, the food is fantastic."
- "Insane portions, go VERY HUNGRY folks! But that's a good thing, because it's DELICIOUS and you'll have another great meal later."
- "The burgers and fries are so good and not basic at all. My friend had the peach bourbon burger and it was huge and juicy. The mozzarella sticks were amazing as well."
- "Best fried chicken in CDA and the cornbread and lavender honey is a must order, for the table at least. To top it off they have bottomless mimosas during Sunday brunch."
- "The Idaho Benedict had crisp fries tossed with garlic aioli, braised beef, pulled pork, bacon and topped with a sunny side up egg, tomatillo salsa, pimento pepper and hollandaise. Absolutely delicious."
- "I ordered the Mac and Cheese with crispy chicken added on top -- it came out LOADED and I was able to make 2 meals from it. Some of the best comfort food around."
If the pictures aren't convincing enough, how about the menu item descriptions? The Shrimp Toast sounds addictive: "Blackened shrimp mixed with a garlic cream sauce, parmesan cheese, lemon and parsley on toasted baguette." Or the Midtown Madness: "Angus beef, bacon jam, cheddar cheese, thick cut bacon, mashed potatoes, braised beef, crispy onions and peppercorn gravy on a toasted brioche bun with hand cut fries."
