Kesha Drops California Court Case Against Dr. Luke
Kesha hasn't thrown up the white flag in her legal battle against Dr. Luke, whom she's accused of sexual assault, but she has scaled back her efforts.
According to Billboard, the "Timber" singer has dropped a California suit against the producer to focus her efforts on more pressing cases in the New York court system. Attorney Daniel M. Petrocelli says she's also eager to finally release new music.
Kesha's last album, Warrior, came out in 2012.
"Kesha is focused on getting back to work and has delivered 28 new songs to the record label," Petrocelli said. "We have conveyed to Sony Music and the label Kesha’s strong desire to release her next album and single as soon as possible."
Kesha most recently spoke out about her legal battle at a July 26 event, during which she lamented how dragged out and painful the case has become.
“I feel like if you’re a human being, you go through pain,” she told an audience (quotes via People). “And you go through hurt. And every single one of us knows that emotion. I don’t know if you guys know what I am going through — I’m going through a lawsuit. It’s f----ing horrible!"
Kesha first filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke in October 2014, claiming she had been sexually, verbally and emotionally abused over the course of a decade-long working relationship.
