The number of people moving to Montana from other states has caused a lot of frustration among longtime residents, so when we found out about the state of Montana practically begging people to move here, to say we were surprised is an understatement. My brother and his wife both attended Montana State University and now live in California. He sent me pictures of a brochure that he received in the mail.

Most of the time, Californians are targeted when folks complain about out-of-staters. To be fair, it's not just Californians. The program targets individuals from all over the country who have previously lived in Montana or attended a university in the state.

HOW IS MONTANA RECRUITING OUT-OF STATERS?

The Montana Department of Commerce has started a program called Come Home Montana. The purpose of the program is to try to get people who have previously lived in Montana to move back. The purpose of the program is to convince people that once lived in Montana to move back. To be clear, the brochures are being sent out to former Montana residents only.

The state might have changed a little since you've left, but the things you've loved remain. There are the wide-open spaces, supportive communities, a lower cost of living and plenty of recreational opportunities. See why else remote workers have chosen to call Montana home, again.

If you visit the Come Home Montana website, there's even a "Warm Welcome Home" video featuring Montana Governor Greg Gianforte.
