On Tuesday, President Donald J. Trump signed the John D. Dingell Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act into law.

Included in the legislation was the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act, which protects 30,370 acres of public land on the north end of Yellowstone National Park from gold mining.

The bill also offers protections for jobs, clean water, public access, and wildlife migrations in and out of YNP. The YGPA was one of 63 bills included in a public lands package that passed the Senate on a 92-8 vote on February 12. On February 26, The House of Representatives also voted in favor of the bill, 363-62.

The legislation was one of the biggest conservation public lands packages to pass Congress in a decade.
