Less than three days after a 4.0 magnitude earthquake shook residents in the Gallatin Valley, another earthquake was reported near Manhattan early Tuesday morning.

On Saturday evening, at approximately 7:53 p.m., a 4.0 magnitude earthquake was reported less than two miles northwest of Manhattan. Residents throughout the area took to social media to share their experience. According to the USGS, it was the strongest quake in the area since 1989.

After Saturday's earthquake, aftershocks are to be expected.

Early Tuesday morning at 4:18 a.m., a second earthquake was felt by residents in the Manhattan area. The quake measured a magnitude of 2.8, and was centered slightly over a half mile WNW of Manhattan.
