Specsavers Workout Commercial – What’s the Song?
A quiet bingo night at a senior community center is interrupted by an exuberant trainer and a familiar dance hit by party rocking duo LMFAO in a current commercial for European eyeglasses company Specsavers.
Anyone who was listening to pop music in early 2012 will recognize the high-energy track in the ad as 'Sexy and I Know It,' the Grammy-nominated tune from Redfoo and SkyBlu that reigned at No. 1 on the singles chart for two weeks.
In the 40-second spot, the trainer enters the room, cranks up the LMFAO song and begins dancing like a maniac. She yells, "Shake what your mother gave ya!" as the bewildered seniors try to figure out what to make of her. Before long, the bingo attendees are out of their seats dancing right along with her. The ad ends with the message, "Should've gone to Specsavers" as the number caller enters the room.
We're not sure what any of this has to do with eyeglasses, but the humorous use of a popular song is sure to increase the brand recognition of Specsavers — and maybe that's the point. The company has created a whole series of "Should've gone to Specsavers" commercials.
The ad's co-creator reveals, "It was great fun to make. The actress who plays Holly is also a fitness instructor so had all the moves. And the bingo players were great sports who really enjoyed the filming process."
