Sturgill Simpson Announces New Album + Epic Montana Concert
One of the biggest names in today's outlaw country music scene has been out of the spotlight the past couple of years, but that's about to change. Sturgill Simpson is back with a new album, and he's coming to Montana this fall. Here's everything you need to know.
Sturgill Simpson Announces New Alias, Album, and Tour
Acclaimed alt-country rocker Sturgill Simpson is back, but with a twist! According to Pitchfork, Simpson has announced a new album titled Passage du Desir, dropping on July 12th. There's a catch, though: he won't be releasing it under his own name. Instead, the album will arrive under a new persona - Johnny Blue Skies.
In addition to the new album and alias, Simpson also announced a string of tour dates this fall, and he's playing at the KettleHouse Amphitheater in Bonner, Montana on September 22.
Sturgill Simpson arrived on the alt-country scene in 2013 when he released his first album High Top Mountain. The album was a breath of fresh air for country music fans disenchanted by the pop-country takeover on radio stations all over the country. Simpson is the real deal, and his music is a reflection of real-life struggles and observations.
Simpson won a Grammy Award for his album A Sailor’s Guide To Earth that was released in 2016. Despite his success, he wasn't accepted by mainstream country radio.
