‘The Colbert Report’ To Do ‘The Hobbit’ Theme Week
Tolkien fans around the world are preparing for the December 14 release of 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' in many different ways. Some have gone back to painstakingly watch Peter Jackson's original 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy (even if it takes place afterward), while others continue gluing their own hair to prosthetic feet in preparation for attending the release in costume. But how is life-long Tolkien fan Stephen Colbert preparing? With a full week of 'The Colbert Report' dedicated to the film, and spotlighting its cast as guests! Who will be in attendance?
That Stephen Colbert sure does love his Tolkien, as we've seen time and time again, and even heard the rumors of 'The Colbert Report' host making a cameo in the film. Keeping along that spirit, Entertainment Weekly reports that 'The Colbert Report' will kick off an entire week of shows dedicated to 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,' beginning December 3 and ending on December 6, in anticipation of the film's December 14 release.
Over the course of the week, Colbert will interview all of 'The Hobbit' trilogy's major players, including Sir Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis, and finally director Peter Jackson himself. Demonstrating his Tolkien Prowess, Colbert said in a statement, “Elen sila lumenn‘ omentielvo (A star shines upon the hour of our meeting)...I mean that sincerely.”
