Fair Director Lori Cox made the announcement this morning on the XL Morning Show: The Gallatin County Fair is changing its name to the Big Sky Country State Fair.

According to Cox, it's one of the first steps in changing the overall image of the fair, allowing it to attract people, not just from the Bozeman area but from around the entire state of Montana.

The change still has to pass through legal channels before it's officially changed, but Cox says that once the switch is made it will help in attracting national acts and bigger name entertainment. This will not only be a boost to the fair, but the local economy as well.

This year's fair will will include country acts Old Dominion and Maddie & Tae, along with the some new possibilities, including a drone competition, four days of motorsports, and for the first time ever an open livestock show.

This year's fair runs July 18-24.
