You Need to Visit This Famous Garden in Montana
In the Jocko Valley north of Missoula, Montana, you'll find a public park that's also known as one of the most unique attractions in the state. The Garden of 1,000 Buddhas is located on the Flathead Indian Reservation near Arlee, Montana. In the center of the garden, there's a colorful 24-foot statue of Yum Chenmo, known as the Great Mother.
Many visitors are surprised to find a Buddhist shrine located in western Montana. According to the Northwest Dharma website, The Garden of One Thousand Buddhas was the childhood vision of Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche. The garden is a testament to Tibetan Buddhist traditions and serves as a place of peace and reflection.
Directions to the Garden of 1,000 Buddhas in Montana
From Bozeman, head west on I-90 towards Missoula. Take exit 96 and merge onto U.S. Hwy 93 N. towards Kalispell. Approximately two miles past Arlee, turn right onto White Coyote Road. The Garden of 1,000 Buddhas will be on the left. Watch for parking signs. Please be respectful of the area and clean up after yourself. To learn more about the history of the garden, click here.
