I have friends that have all kinds of different views about life, politics, social issues, etc.

I have some friends that believe Socialism is the way to go and that if we embrace it, life will be fair and we'll stick it to those greedy "old white rich men".  I have some friends that make their own ammo and are just waiting for the Government to fall so they can go all "Red Dawn".

Me, I'm kind of somewhere in the middle, but lean more conservative and think Capitalism is the way to go. Oh, I also love Jesus and go to Church every Sunday and think America is the greatest country on the planet.

Which is funny, because anytime I write an article about something that folks have a strong opinion on, I always get a one or two hate emails or messages talking about how I'm some liberal mouthpiece for Corporate America OR a Right Wing Nut.

It is both funny and frustrating. Funny, because it's not true and frustrating because, well, it's not true.

I bring all of this up, because I was looking at the calendar and saw that today is a special day.  Today marks three months of having moved to Bozeman and starting my new job.  I'm not going to lie to you, it's has been quite the experience.  From living in the basement of the Boss for five weeks, to being separated from my Wife and Dogs, there were some tough times.

I know there are those stories out there about how Montanans are fed up with people moving here and trying to change what is a really wonderful place.  I know that for those that were born and raised here, they don't appreciate folks coming here and ruining the Montana they've always known and loved.

Look, I get it.

Having said that, almost all of the people we've met here have been wonderful and welcoming. Whether it be through work, church, or just out in social settings, Montanans have greeted us with open arms. Which is great, because we don't plan on leaving and the only thing we want to see change about Montana is the high price of housing.

Perfect example, when we finally got our stuff all moved out here, a family from our Church showed up and along with some of the missionaries had us unloaded and everything in our apartment in 30 minutes. That has to be some sort of record, right? They certainly didn't have to do that, but they did, and it made all the difference because it made us feel like we were home.

This is the best place in the world.  Everyday I look out my window when I'm driving home from work and I stare at all of those mountains and think, "how in the heck did I get so lucky to be here?"  It's paradise.

Just like my friends, the area has some folks that are on opposite sides on their viewpoints, but overwhelmingly are extremely kind.

Oh sure, there are a few bad apples, those keyboard warriors that hide behind a screen and say mean spirited and ridiculous stuff.  Just remember, there are bad apples and keyboard warriors everywhere, it's not original to Montana, nor does it capture the spirit of this great state. This place is special and it speaks to the soul.

So thank you Bozeman and Montana for welcoming us and making us feel like we're part of you.  We truly appreciate it.
