Winter Weather Advisory for Southwest Montana Through Monday Morning – Bozeman, Butte, Missoula
Most of southwest Montana is under a Winter Weather Advisory or Winter Weather Watch through the New Year's Weekend with more snow and much colder temps on the way. Missoula, Butte and Bozeman are all going to be affected.
According to the National Weather Service:
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM SUNDAY TO NOON MST MONDAY FOR SNOW.
- LOCATIONS - BIG HOLE PASS... CHIEF JOSEPH PASS... DILLON... MONIDA PASS... ENNIS... NORRIS HILL... RAYNOLDS PASS... TWIN BRIDGES... BATTLE RIDGE PASS... BOZEMAN... BOZEMAN PASS... TARGHEE PASS... WEST YELLOWSTONE.
- TIMING - A CANADIAN COLD FRONT WILL MOVE INTO SOUTHWEST MONTANA BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON BRINGING GUSTY NORTH WINDS AND FALLING TEMPERATURES.
- SNOW WILL DEVELOP BEHIND THE COLD FRONT SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT BEFORE DIMINISHING ON MONDAY.
- SNOW ACCUMULATIONS - 1 TO 3 INCHES. UP TO 5 INCHES IN THE MOUNTAINS.
- WINDS - NORTHEAST 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.
- TEMPERATURES - FALLING INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS ABOVE ZERO SUNDAY AND BELOW ZERO SUNDAY NIGHT.
- SNOW COVERED AND SLICK ROADWAYS ARE LIKELY ON SUNDAY WITH AREAS OF REDUCED VISIBILITY IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.
- A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITY.
