After Long Search, Bozeman’s Cactus Records Finds New Location
Great news! Cactus Records' owner, Mike "Bueno" Good told us that he's found a new location for the longtime Bozeman record store.
The Hathhorn Building, where the business is currently located, was recently listed for sale. As a result, Bueno was left with the task of finding a new location for Cactus Records. Sadly, staying downtown was not an option due to the high cost of commercial space.
Bueno recently gave us an update on the search for a new Cactus Records location and told us he's found a great spot. The new location will be at 2742 W. Main in Bozeman near Rook's Games and the Montana Science Center. The space was formerly occupied by Smokin' Smittys. Despite having to find a new location, Bueno says he's excited about what the future holds, and he's committed to continuing to serve Bozeman.
Cactus Records in downtown Bozeman is a local landmark. It is one of the few places in Bozeman that hasn't changed much over the years. It is a destination for music lovers in the Bozeman area and beyond. Personally, I have purchased a lot of vinyl at Cactus Records.
Cactus Records first opened in Bozeman in the 1970s. It was located in a small space in front of a service station at the intersection of Babcock St. and Willson Ave. before moving to the basement of the Baxter Hotel. In the mid-80s, the record store moved into its current location in the Hathhorn Building at 29 W. Main St. in downtown Bozeman.
An official opening date for the new Cactus Records location has not been announced, but Bueno told us he'll keep us updated.
