Montana’s All-Time High School Football Player Will Surprise You

This might cause a debate, especially after all the incredible football players Montana has produced over the years.

In Montana, football is king. Every year locals love attending and talking about football. The topic could be high school football or who is better between the Cats and Griz but locals love their football. My dad still attends high school football games almost two decades after my brother and I finished our careers at our school.

High school football is competitive here in Montana. Whether the teams at the AA level or those who play 8-man football, these players play to prove who is the best in the state.

So this begs the question, who is Montana's best all-time football player? The debate isn't so simple.

There are players like Troy Andersen, who played at Beaverhead County in Dillon, who won state at the high school level and went on to a legendary career at Montana State, or Brock Osweiler, who played quarterback at Flathead and went on to play in the NFL. Then there is Ryan Leaf. He played high school ball in Great Falls and is the highest draft pick out of Montana at number three overall.

So which one is the best? None of them.

Stadium Talk picked Chase Reynolds out of the small town of Drummond. Chase Reynolds was a three-time state champion, and four-time all-state running back, and holds the record for career rushing yards and touchdowns.

After high school, Chase Reynolds had a great career at the University of Montana and a brief stint in the NFL.

So when someone asks who is the best player to come out of Montana, maybe you should throw out Chase Reynolds as a suggestion. He has earned that respect.
