Which Montana Town Has the Best Main Street?
If you're going shopping, you want everything you could ever need to be in close proximity. The magic of a good downtown area is that you don't have to wander far.
Montana has some stellar towns with unique Main Streets. Whether you want a Main Street that seems never-ending or one that's short, sweet, and picturesque, Montana has them all. But who has the best?
Cheapism made a list of the Best Main Street Shopping Districts in Every State, and for Montana, it's a wildcard pick we didn't expect. They chose Red Lodge as the town with the best Main Street. Though technically, Red Lodge's "Main Street" is actually called Broadway Ave.
Red Lodge was devastated this past summer when flooding rampaged the town and forced many businesses to shut down and renovate all summer. The town has been hard at work to restore itself, however, and shopping in its downtown area is one of the best ways to help support the locals. Main Street in Red Lodge is filled with unique Montanan-owned businesses, with plenty of both modern and nostalgic items for sale; there really is something for everyone.
Red Lodge has a great Main Street, but a few other places in Montana boast their own stellar downtowns. Whitefish has a gorgeous Main Street with high-end restaurants, breweries, and shopping for any occasion. Plus, it faces the ski mountain perfectly—makes you want to get some gear and shred some snow.
Then there is Bozeman. Bozeman might get flak for being a little too pricey, but the shopping is unmatched. The shops that line Main Street boast such a wide array of options it's almost unbeatable.
We are lucky to live in a state where there are so many towns with fun and picturesque Main Streets. That means wherever you go, you'll have some fun.
