What Happened? Bozeman Police Respond To Startling Bomb Threats
The Bozeman Police Department is investigating a string of bomb threats that occurred over the weekend and has stated that there is currently no risk to the community.
On Friday evening around 5:30 p.m., the BPD received a report about a bomb threat at two separate intersections in Bozeman. The intersections of Kagy & Willson and Rouse & Main were cordoned off and surrounding businesses were evacuated. A local media outlet was the first to receive the threat, according to the report.
As detectives began investigating the leads, it was determined that the email threat originated from Nigeria, Africa. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, MSU Police Department, and City of Bozeman Streets Department, Bozeman Fire Department, and American Medical Response (AMR responded to the incident.
Bozeman Police Department Release Updated Bomb Threat Information
On Saturday, the Bozeman Police Department released additional details about the threats.
Our department was able to utilize the services of the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport and deployed a bomb/explosive detection K9. The handler and his partner determined there was no explosive or device at the 400 block of E. Main St. location, so the area was reopened. Although the K9 detected the possible presence of an explosive on West Kagy, further investigation ultimately determined it had indicated on unrelated items in the building and there was no device or explosives at that location either.
The incident is still under investigation, and there is currently no legitimate threat to the community. The Bozeman Police Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents and those who enjoy recreational activities within the city.
