Is The Bozeman Airport More Popular Than We Thought?
This is going to be a problem for many locals trying to travel for the foreseeable future and could put a damper on some summer plans.
KBZK published a report about how travelers have been flocking to Montana's busiest airport is right here in the Gallatin Valley. We aren't talking about the tourists coming on popular flights all year long. We are talking about how Montanans have been driving to Bozeman to use our airport.
We aren't joking either. According to KBZK, Montanans come to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport because, not only do we have the most enticing flights nationwide, but they tend to be cheaper out of Bozeman.
People from Missoula and Billings have been buying tickets out of Bozeman to fly out and get to their preferred destination than it would be to purchase tickets from their local airport.
That's wild to think about. Two of the most populated cities, and the second and third most trafficked airports in Montana, have citizens who would rather drive to Bozeman for a few hours and then fly out instead of driving down the road.
I know this is real because my sister, who works remotely for a company in Los Angeles, flies out of Bozeman because it's less than half the price.
Well, if you can get a deal, go for it.
The Bozeman Airport has been trying to update its facilities for all travelers, and we've even written about how the Bozeman Airport needs one huge change. Maybe the Bozeman Aiport needs to keep expanding and another new concourse to help with all these new travelers. That would be the smart move.
