MHP Shares Photos of 30 Car Pileup Near Billings

On Saturday, February 27, Montana Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a pileup crash on I-90 Westbound. The accidents happened on the Yellowstone River bridge approximately a mile west of exit 452.

Troopers responded to the call around noon on Saturday. The pileup resulted in Interstate 90 being shut down in both directions for hours. Traffic was backed up for miles. The suspected cause of the crashes was ice on the Yellowstone River Bridge.

According to Montana Highway Patrol, the pileup involved approximately 30 vehicles. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Two people that reportedly jumped from the bridge to avoid being struck by a vehicle suffered serious injuries, but are expected to recover.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. In a social media post on Saturday, Montana Highway Patrol shared a few pictures of the pileup near Billings.
