Miles City Hits 100° Degrees For Latest Time On Record

It hasn't been your typical Fall this year in Montana. Temperatures have been much warmer than usual, and one town just broke a state heat record. So, when are temperatures expected to start cooling off in Montana?

Montana Town Breaks All-Time Heat Record in September

The past few days in Montana have felt like the middle of July. Over the weekend, one town in Montana recorded a temperature of 100°, which is very uncommon this time of year. On Sunday, Miles City, Montana recorded a high temperature of 100° degrees, which is the latest time in a year on record that any location in Montana has reached 100°.

According to KTRV Chief Meteorologist Ryan Dennis, Sunday's high of 100° in Miles City also set a record for daily high temperature. Fortunately, a cold front moved in and dropped temperatures across the state. On Monday morning, Elk Park, Montana was a brisk 14°.

Winter seems to be taking its time in Montana this year. Usually, most of the mountain ranges are snow covered by early October, but Mother Nature has differents plans, I guess. It's hard to believe that it reached 100° on the last weekend it September. If you know anything about Montana, then you know that it is never this hot heading into October.

The Old Farmer's Almanac predicts that Montana won't receive its first major snowstorm until early-mid November. At this point, those predictions could be more accurate that previously thought. I think it's about time to bust out a little snow dance.
