Bad news for just about literally everybody who has a Netflix account.

At the Consumer Electronics Show this year, UK company Synamedia showed off a new service that can spot shared passwords between machines, and it can figure out if someone is using your account to stream stuff.

Basically, a company like Netflix buys access to their platform. Then they can track you down. At first, it won't be a big deal - you might get an email saying you should upgrade to Netflix Premium or something so you can get more screens. After that though, if it's clear that the sharing is extreme - for example, if you're selling your password to multiple users online - they'll be able to shut your account down.

Do you share passwords for Netflix or other streaming services with friends or family? What do you think of this development?
