After Petito's body was found, a nationwide search for Brian Laundrie began. In October 2021, Laundrie's body was found in Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park in Florida, where he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His body was found with a backpack, notebook, and a revolver.
