A new restaurant is opening soon in one of the fastest growing commercial areas in Bozeman, the Cannery District, located just north of the Gallatin County Fairgrounds.

New Authentic Mexican Restaurant Coming to Bozeman

Here's a fun fact about the new restaurant. It's opening in the former Las Esquina location, which also happened to be a Mexican restaurant. Hopefully, the new one lasts a little longer.

Las Esquina closed abruptly in 2024, and the space has been vacant ever since. We reached out to the owner for comment, but did not receive a response.

Now, a new Mexican restaurant will soon open in the same spot. Plaza Azteca, a franchise with locations all over the country, will open its first Bozeman location. The only other Montana location is in Missoula.

The menu at the Missoula location includes items like, rib-eye tacos, and something called a "Birria-rito", which honestly sounds amazing. According to the Plaza Azteca website, a visit to the restaurant is like "The Shortcut to Mexico."

An opening date for the Bozeman location hasn't been announced, but it appears that crews have been working hard.

If you're craving Mexican food, Bozeman already has plenty of options. La Tinga was voted the best Mexican food in the state in 2024. Los Jarochos is a great spot if you're in the mood for birria tacos.

We're not sure if Bozeman needs another Mexican restaurant, but it looks like its getting one.
