Summer Is Over But Tourists Aren’t Done With Bozeman Yet

Everyone thinks just because the summer is officially over that we will stop seeing tourists in the Gallatin Valley, well I have some bad news for you.

This past summer Bozeman saw a massive influx of tourists with everything fully opening up from the COVID-19 pandemic. Yellowstone National Park hit record numbers for visitors, the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport returned to their extremely busy self, and downtown Bozeman was busy as ever. The thing is, some locals think that due to the weather changing to colder temperatures that we won't be seeing a lot of tourists but we are very wrong.

Winter is shaping up to be just as busy as the summer months and honestly, I am not surprised by this. Bozeman is typically always busy during the winter months but tends to forget. We have folks that fly or travel from all over the United States to come here for a multitude of winter reasons. Go skiing or snowboarding at Big Sky Resort or Bridger Bowl or hit the backcountry to go cross country skiing. Everyone near and far come to Bozeman for the winter. The Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport is just as busy in the winter as it is in the summer. They have several seasonal flights to Florida, the East Coast, California, and more lined up this year.

I am not trying to rain on your parade with this information but it seems like year after year we forget that the winters here are just as busy as the summers and we forget. Especially this year that many mountains are taking off restrictions on reservations to get tickets on their mountains, it's going to be open season.

I am just saying that if you're feeling a little tired of the tourists, maybe just take some rest and recovery and hit an outgoing flight out of Bozeman and hit some sunny weather. We could all use a break. We have to remember and be self-aware that Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley is a year-round tourist destination, not just for the summer.
