1. Did you know this is Major's 37th St. Patrick's Day in Salem? Now that's tradition. In case you haven't made any plans, be sure to check out some picks from Contributor William Legault. 3. In the late 1800s, the Derby Street area was known as little Dublin. This was before the post 1900 influx of Polish immigrants to the area. Thanks for the history lesson, Bald Bil.

4. Did you know St. Patrick's Day stems all the way back to the 13 colonies before we were a nation of 50 states? That's right. Members of the Charitable Irish Society of Boston put together the celebration in honor of their homeland. The first parade for St. Patty's Day was in New York in 1762.
