Where Does Montana Rank When It Comes To The “Luck Of The Irish”?

As someone with Irish roots, I take St. Patrick's Day very seriously.  The truth is, I've always loved the allure of the Irish.  The country, the people, the accent, the humor, the music, the food...all have such a rich history.

Heck, I even like Irish Spring Soap.

Although I've yet to visit Ireland (it's on my bucket list), I enjoy celebrating everything Irish, as do many other Montanans.  Of course, everyone knows about the Irish influence of Butte, which by the way is one of the most Irish cities in the United States and hosts one of the greatest St. Patrick's Day parades in the nation.

But what about the rest of Montana?  Just how Irish is the rest of the state? According to Zippia, Montana is one of the most Irish states in the United States. The data says that 14% or just over 144,000 Montanans have Irish heritage.

Based on the number of residents with Irish ancestry, Montana makes the Top 10 Most Irish States, coming in ranked 9th.

So what does that mean? Well, it means that you can expect to see a whole lot of folks dressed in green at different bars across the state celebrating with plates of corn beef and cabbage while washing it down with lots of beer and Irish Whiskey even for those Montanans that don't have Irish heritage.
